The foundation of Les Cerlatez, situated at 3km from Saignelégier and created in 1992, develops its activities in matters of information, research and protection of wetlands and more particularly on peatbogs. The opening of its Centre Nature in 1993 marks the start of its work in environmental education. This structure also plays the role as house of the nature reserve of l’Etang de la Gruère, which is situated at a few hundred meters from Les Cerlatez. The members of the the Foundation Council, gather 2 to 3 times a year, in order to fix its objectives and budgets for the functionning of the Centre Nature, as well as defining its educational strategies.
